Thanks for the driver I was in no man's land without it. To shorten my story I had enabled my two hard drives for DMA. Afterwards I couldn't reenter Windows ME unless in safe mode. Of course you can't disable DMA in safe mode and my system restore utility didn't work. Within safe mode I could remove the ALi M5229 IDE controller and reboot normally then have the hardware wizard discover the controller whereby a restart would put me right back in no man's land safe mode booting only. Refusing to restart would at least give me time to search the web where I ran across your driver after a very long and exhaustive search the manufacturers are useless. After installing it my controller driver was updated and my Ultra DMA drives are smoking. You saved me quite a bit of work from trying to recover from this mess I created.
