This driver was suggested to me by Compaq to correct a problem with the display on my Compaq 1800XL1 where the display would come up blank with jumbled characters out of sync or simply turn solid white. Sometimes I would even get a BIOS startup error of one long and two short beeps with the display staying blank on startup. I had recently upgraded the computer to Windows XP and to Service Pack 2 when this problem occurred. HPCompaq does not support Windows XP on this machine.I downloaded the driver and attempted to install it. Windows XP blocks the installSoundblasteron indicSoundblasterng that the currently loaded driver for the ATI Rage Mobility internal card is the most recent. That driver shows up as Version 5 while this driver shows a Version 6 in the documentSoundblasteron files. Nonetheless Windows XP will not update from the default driver.After two weeks of frustrSoundblasteron with this situSoundblasteron I stumbled upon the solution last night. Go to Settings Control Panel Display. Select the Settings Tab select Advanced select the Troubleshooting tab across the top of the window remove the check mark from the field titled quotEnable Write Combiningquot which is below the quotHardware AccelerSoundblasteronquot slider.Everything then works fine. Note that there was no reference to this issue on either the HPCompaq or Microsoft web sites and there where no troubleshooting guides that directed me to this issue. Also note that the problem is in the settings for the display and not for the video carddisplay driver. Apparently the problem has something to do with DirectX.Windows XP performs flawlessly on the Compaq Presario 1800XL1 once this small change is made from the default settings.

very good drivers tank you very matchTrakker driver for WIn95. WOrks well with Win 98 sec Edit. BUT. you may need to reset your parallel port to STANDARD. It does not like EPPECP setting. Run at slow speed from Options for best results. Also try MS Backup found in Win Setup or in ADDONS on WIN ME CD. This will find a driver that will run the Trakker. Make sure that Trakker is on when Windows is fire up or it will not be reconised. GOOD LUCK.

Well I want to thank you for this info. It solved a 4 day dillemma in doing a rebuild. We couldn't get Easy CD Creator Platinum to recognise the CDRW... and the notes that come with this firmware update.. READ'EM Doesn't work for OEM product.

yo dis driver isn't worth downloading they always need dll and it's always missing.. cant use setup with out dll files.. where are the dll files and what are they.. and why are they so important

Got an Idea If site like this gathers so much drivers allofthekind It SHOULD bind some links or even run some test's to determine what driver is best for for example M64 under speedor quality in winXP or in win98 Coz this is useless to DL newest Detonators coz performance can drop to 50 in my case. What do you think

This driver works great for the HP Pavillion 533w. It is not listed on HP's software and driver download site. I also reccomend driverscan it allowed me to see the chipset number since it has a heat sink on it and is not visible. Thanks
