My XP system appears to be ignoring this driver and all other similar VIA drivers that I have tried to install so far. I am still looking. Also this driver had only an .exe program that installed directly I prefer to have a zip file that I can extract to a specified folder so I can then tell Windows where to go look for the files. That way I can easily see if it is actually recognizing them or not.

I'm having the same problem Bryan did it's asking me for the RMDRV.bat file which I don't have. What do I do now I don't want to get another modem unless absolutely necessary.

it hung when attempting to restart then some of the display drivers kind of reset. And need to be reinstalled. All worked fine after reinstalling the VGA drivers. I think some registry entries were deleted so need to run some reg maintainance tools. Not sure if it was due to this driver but it happened during the installation process. Use with caution.

This driver is horrible I wouldn't recommend that anyone use it for Win2K it really sucks but it does work for 9598ME.
