i downloaded driver for compaq realtekhighdefinition mv500 and had no joy still only got 16 colors can anyone help me please.

Worked like a charm. I had recently done a Critical Update for Windows 98 via the microsoft site. Lo and behold afer that my CDROM was not being recognized and the Standby power mode was gone too. Checked system info and found the ALI drivers were not working properly specifically M5229.pdr. Downloaded this zip file and unzipped in a folder. Ran Setup and first unistalled the ALI driver. Then did an install and got the system to restart. Voila CDROM was then recognized and standby mode is OK now. Thanks a bunch

I'm sorry but for my SiS5511 it doesn't work. W98 started in safe mode and i had to remove the driver

Installed on client's old P100 machine that had a clean install of Win95b. The drvupd.exe process VXD at the end and now the machine spontaneously reboots during Windows Load. Boot into safe mode remove card from device manager and on next boot card reinstalls itself automatically using the new drivers but still VXD's. Also it appears that this driver adds a new list of Creative Labs devices to the system.

Problem solved If you get a blank screen after installing this restart in safe mode run msconfig from the run menu. Select the advanced tab and check the box to force 640x480x16 colors. Then restart the machine normally go into your display options and set them up. Then go back into msconfig and clear the checkbox. Machine should work.
