i used this driver on a via vt8233vt8366 kt266 chipset. onboard is the ac'97 digital audio controller codec on board. followed the advice of the wonderful lady who saved me who knows how much time and unzipped it to windowstemp folder. went to addremove hardware...browsed the temp foler and presto i now have beautiful sound. thanx to everyone i appreciate this website and those who keep it current with old drivers as well. have a great day and God bless.

I needed a Windows driver for the DVD drive NOT a firware update. Windows is not recognizing this drive as a DVD drive its seeing it a CD drive so the Windows driver needs to be updated BIOS recognizes it correctly therefore no firmware update is needed.I believe that searching for a driver should return a driver not firmware otherwise I would do a search for firmware.i can't spend time testing but it works just fine with pct303acm. Seems like the sound volume is quite low
