This was VERY much appreciated I did download the drivers from the original website but WinME wasn't listed and none of the drivers worked. This one worked perfectly even in WinME.

this driver did not do any good on my presario 1244 while setup it said general file transfer error check ur target location and try again ... i am fedup with this problem kinldy guide.

I think it worked but it didn't work immediatelly.There was an error with the ide controller in the device manager and that dissapeared after I added a new OS and then reverted to the old OS. There was a message that the boot sector was possibly infected when entering safe mode and the CDROM was not showing up. After switching partitions back from a temporary win98se reinstall the system showed the CDROM and no error in the IDE controller. Maybe a combination of the two things got the IDE controller to be working with WinMe. Have a frag filled day and Y'all come back now Y'hear Sir
