this driver did make some noise as it crashed my computer on reboot i had to start in safe mode and try to remove it.close but not close enoughThanks anyway.

I had the same problem. Soon after reinstalling WinXP on my PC my Hitachi GD7500 DVD started reading only CDs and CDROMs but not recognising DVDs. I assumed it was an ASPI problem or a DVD player problem but it turned out to be a matter of cleaning the lens.
