Windows 98 SE was already setup with no modems installed. After installing the modem inside the case Windows boots up asking for drivers for a PCI Serial Controller. Told Windows to look for the drivers on the floppy. Installed flawlessly on the first try. I'll give it an A.

Wrong driver. My faultThe DriverGuide Compatibility Scan prob saved me a lot of hassle. I'd downloaded this driver because it's description matched my WLAN adapter and it was a later version. But just before installing I checked the Compatibility Scan. It said this wasn't a match for my hardware and that my driver was up to date. Do nothing That's easy.
