Tried everything have upgraded an HP Pavilion 8515 with the GVC 'Riptide' Combo card installed. XP got the sound card working OK but just listed the modem as 'Simple PCI Controller'. Anyway I tried XP's 'GVC HCF 56k' driverseemed close and although the modem diagnostics succesfully 'communicated' with the modem returning what appeared to be the correct data Query modem option in modems' properties dialogue the modem would not go offhook or dial even though the dialler said it was. Have installed a cheap 45 pci modem and now the system is working fine. Not really worth spending too much time on as a new modem is so cheap thesedays.

been lookin for the thing almost for a full day on cannon site before finally landing here. cannon should in my view take a lesson from these guys how to organise things in a efficient way. Thanks for the easy navigation and finding process.
