This driver worked on a HP Pavilion a296n with a a7n8xla motherboard. I only installed the ethernet driver on this board from the programs driver list because that is all i needed. it is working great if it wasn't i couldn't me on line now.

Well gota say i like this alot thanx iv rebuilt my comp and put new stuff on it installed xp and modem quit so i got a new one and its slots ran out so i looked for the driver and found it the only problim i have is i have a anger problem and when i work on my computer it starts to click i hit it to stop when it didnt I HIT IT REALY HARD my comp froze then i restarted it and started music and evrey once an a while like evrey 20 secs it sounds like scrach cd other than that THANX ALOT THIS IS BEST PLACE FOR DRIVER WILL RETERN

Its works like a bomb. Many ThanksThis driver is advertised for W95 and basic W98 ... it is a last ditch effort to get sound on a Dell GX150 running W98 basic ... sound works it's the only driver that can get the Intel integrated sound chips to work under W95 amp 98 but the quality is poor especially when running graphicsgames from a CD ROM. Recommend just using W2K or WP and the sound problem is fixed with no issues.

I could not get this driver to work.My guess is that maybe you can only use this driver if you have your CPQ software utilities still on your hard drive and active like foxbyte says below.But guess what I went to the Compaq website and got ALL the drivers I need for my Compaq Presario audio display modem etc etc.They ALL worked greatGo to www29.Elitegroup Computer Systems.comfalcosplist.aspYou can also order a CD from Compaq and receive by mail ALL the Presario drivers you need on one CD. This definitely restored a little faith in Compaq for meTom happy to have a working computer again
